Orczy's family was ennobled for their military services, hence her title 'Baroness' before moving to England due to the political climate. She studied art at Heatherley's School of Fine Art in London and later at the Royal Academy of Arts, where she met her husband, Montague Barstow, with whom she collaboratively illustrated books. Baroness Orczy's literary career bloomed with her famous novel 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' (1905), which was subsequently followed by a series of sequels. Her writing style is characterized by adventure, romance, and a flair for historical settings, often revolving around aristocracy and high society.
