The present book discusses the history of use and fabrication of ancient coffins, cartonnage and fayoum portraits, the beginning of using, the religious beliefs, the materials and techniques, the chemical and physical state of the archaeological wood, the deteriorating effect of the wood, to explain a number of factors, such as the wood species, the history of use and fabrication, the time buried and the burial environment role in deterioration process, to treatment the selected coffins and to know the different techniques for preserving them according to the measures of international museum requirements.
