Mary E. Wilkins Freeman was an american writer known for his stories and novels of lives frustrated in the towns of New England. She was born on October 31, 1852 in Randolph, Massachusetts, and died on March 13, 1930 in Metuchen, New Jersey.***O. Henry wrote in a dry, humorous style and, as in "The Gift of the Magi," often ironically used coincidences and surprise endings. Released from prison in 1902, Porter went to New York, his home and the setting of most of his fiction for the remainder of his life.
